Self-Made Is A Myth - Make A Difference Together
No one is really self-made! We don’t get to where we end up alone. We’ve all had folks in our journey who’ve helped us achieve our success. Many times those folks don’t even know the impact they’ve had. So, in honor of the fellow business owners in your life that had an impact on you becoming the person you are today, the Self-Made Is A Myth movement celebrates them.

I’ve been a Midwesterner my whole life: 10 years in Detroit, 10 years in Toledo and since graduating from THE Ohio State University 34 years ago have lived in Indianapolis.
Over the 34 years I’ve held a variety of leadership positions in finance, strategy, operations, sales and marketing in the auto, publishing, mobile phone and logistics industries.
In 2016, my long-time business partner of 26 years, Shelli Austin, and I had the opportunity to purchase the business we started in 2003.
InTek Freight & Logistics is a North American focused non-asset logistics company offering a variety of supply chain solutions and technology to shippers, with its primary focus being domestic intermodal shipping solutions.
I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by incredible people over the years that have helped me along the way.
In 2005, I was one of the 40 Under Forty Honorees as listed by the Indianapolis Business Journal and over a few short years after the acquisition the efforts of the entire InTek team has been recognized both locally and nationally in growth and work-life balance:
1. Indiana Business Journal FAST 25 - 2021 & 2022, Top 5 finishes in the fastest growing privately held company in Indiana.
2. Inc 5000 - 2022 & 2023: 1541 and 1484 fastest growing companies in the United States.
3. 2023 Best Places to Work - Indiana Chamber of Commerce: Listed as the 25th out of the 125 employers to work in Indiana.

Andy Hendricks is a lifelong Hoosier. He grew up in Terre Haute and attended Indiana State University, majoring in business administration. While at ISU he met his future wife, Vickie. They married and lived in Terre Haute until 2008 when Vickie had a job opportunity that led them to the Indianapolis area. They now reside in Mooresville with their 2 children, Nolan and Harper.
Andy worked various entry-level jobs after college but never found the right fit. At one point he turned to his father-in-law, a window cleaning veteran of 40+ years, for a job. Andy found cleaning windows to be enjoyable and satisfying. He realized there was a need for this service and decided to set out on his own in the spring of 2009. That venture sparked an entrepreneurial spirit that continues to this day in the form of A-1 Window Cleaning and Pressure Washing Service.
A-1 Window Cleaning serves both residential and commercial customers offering multiple services in addition to cleaning windows. These services include power washing, gutter cleaning and holiday light installation. A-1 now employs over 10 people and has become a major player in the local market. No one is really SELF-made
No one ever gets to where they end up alone. Instead, whether we like it or not, we are a culmination of all of the people who have come before us.
Acknowledging your path to this point is more than a stunt to make you seem humble or even just an exercise in gratitude. While humility and gratitude are powerful, taking note of the assistance and support you’ve had on your entrepreneurial journey is a strategic move. When you create the habit of being grateful for your past partners you’ll also begin the habit of acknowledging the positive relationships that are in your life today, and even the ones that are to come. We Make A Difference Together that far surpasses anything we could do on our own.
Pay It Forward
So, in honor of the fellow business owners in your life that had an impact on you becoming the person you are today, let’s celebrate them.
